WINDHAM and WINDSOR counties, Vt. — Vermont State Police troopers from the Westminster Barracks conducted saturation patrols on May 24 throughout Windham and Windsor counties in Vermont. The purpose of the saturation patrols was to focus on speed enforcement, distracted driving and the detection and apprehension of alcohol and drug impaired operators.
During the detail, troopers conducted 76 traffic stops. Three operators were arrested for driving under the influence, one operator was arrested for driving with a suspended license and possession of a controlled substance, another operator was arrested for possession of cocaine and possession of a controlled substance. Troopers issued 32 Vermont Civil Violation Complaints (VCVCs) and 48 written warnings, all according to the state police.
The VSP would like to remind all motorists to avoid operating under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and to always utilize a sober driver.
