WALPOLE — Richard E. LaFayette, beloved husband to Tammy L. LaFayette, father of Jacob, Hallie, Courtney, Shawn and Nicholas LaFayette, stepfather to James and Meagan Prue. grandfather to Joshua and Owen LaFayette, Sophia and Vyctoria Prue, Easton Richmond and Preston Harrington, and brother to Melissa Rabtory and Frances Wheeler, died on May 29, 2018 at his home in Walpole, New Hampshire at age 51 due to complications from cancer.
Youngest of three children, Richard LaFayette was born on March 31, 1967 in Springfield, Vermont to Dewanda Wade and Richard LaFayette. Richard grew up in a small town called Bellows Falls. When he was younger, he moved many times from Vermont to Arkansas back to Vermont and New Hampshire. Mr. LaFayette was always known as a hard worker. Since he was 14 years old, there was never a day that went by that he wasn’t working.
Richard graduated from Fair Haven Union High School class of ‘85 — from there he started his own business called “LaFayette Builders” which was a construction company. Richard used to build houses, move them, and set foundations. At age 22, he got into logging and started another family business called “MountainSide Logging” where he logged and sold fire wood. Over the years he’s done many jobs for many different things. In 2015, he started working at Springfield Paving Monday-Saturday and on Sunday he worked for himself. Even though Richard was a workaholic, he always found time to spend with his children and family from late fishing trips, movie nights, cookouts, and late night four-wheeling rides.
There will be calling hours 1– 2 p.m. Monday, June 4 with service beginning at 2 p.m., all at the Fenton & Hennessey Funeral Home in Bellows Falls, Vermont. Burial will follow the service in the Westminster Cemetery, Westminster, Vermont.
