Top 13 seniors named at NHS

NEWPORT — The Top 13 seniors in the Class of 2018 at Newport High School were announced Tuesday night at the annual Honors Banquet hosted by the Newport Teachers’ Association in the Newport Opera House.

At this point the list is alphabetical only. The actual standingsof those 13 students will not be revealed until final exams are completed between June 4 and 6.

That list, including the Valedictorian, Salutatorian and Class Essayist is expected to be announced on June 7th or 8th.

Newport graduation is scheduled for Wednesday, June 13, on the Newport Common starting at 6 p.m. In the event of rain it will be moved inside at the Newport Opera House.

The Top 13 seniors include Anna Caccavaro, Molly DiPadova, Keagan Halleck, C.J. Howe, Hannah Johnson, Victoria Marino, Haley McNamara, Hailey Perry, Anna Pysz, Kennedy Pysz, Olivia Rasmussen, Rachel Stark and Alexander Whipple.

National Honor Society Inductees announced on Tuesday included Marisa Cota, Megan Howard, Fancy Moulton and Ayesha Nezambaldi, Grade 11, and Cameron Hall, Mason Martell, Annika Randall, Reuben Joshua Relente, Natasha Whipple, Jasmyn Wilkinson and Michael Wilkinson, Grade 10.

Current members of the National Honor Society include Anna Caccavaro, Molly DiPadova, Keagan Halleck, C.J. Howe, Alexis Hurd, Victoria Marino, Hailey Perry, Anna Pysz, Kennedy Pysz, Olivia Rasmussen, Matthew Salinardi, Rachel Stark, Cody Turgeon and Alexander Whipple. Grade 11 students are Catherine Boles, Victoria Burroughs, Selena Coronis, Alia Gonzalez, Benjamin Jachim-Gallagher, and Elizabeth Tremblay.

National Technical Honor Society Inductees include Alexandra Armstrong, Mason Martell and Annika Randall, Grade 10. Current members are C.J. Howe, Victoria Marino, and Hailey Perry, Grade 12, and Victoria Burroughs, Grade 11.

The Honors Banquet Committee included Steve Christensen, James Faulkner, Sarah Fischer, Barbara Kvetcovsky, Laura Mosconas, Terri Scott, Deborah Stevens, and Bob Sullivan.

The welcome and closing remarks were made by Sarah Fischer and James Faulkner, co-presidents of the Newport Teachers Association. Dinner was prepared by The Old Courthouse.

Induction of National Honor Society Members was made by Steve Christensen, Newport High School Advisor. National Technical Honor Society members were inducted by Bonnie Ackerman, CTE Director. Principal Shannon Martin introduced the Top Seniors.
