Breakfast social ‘mashup’ will focus on promotion of the arts

SPRINGFIELD, Vt. — The Cornerstone Creative Community of Vermont (3CVT), a committee of professionals working within the local creative economy, is hosting its third regional mashup, a f ree event and breakfast social, from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, June 7 at at The Great Hall, 100 River St., in Springfield.

3CVT is connecting the creative economy of East Central Vermont, which contributes approximately 8.9 percent to the total region’s employment. This 40-town region stretches from the Connecticut River in the east, to Rochester, Stockbridge, and Bridgewater in the west, from Newbury and Topsham in the north to Springfield and Chester in the south, all according to a press release from the Springfield Regional Chamber of Commerce.

All individuals, and organizations, working in the midst of the region, and its boundaries, are invited to this second grassroots networking event for all those engaged in the promotion of the arts, working artists, musicians, performers, culinary arts, publishing, film, IT, and the design world.

Breakfast social and networking opportunity will take place from 9 to 10 a.m. with a welcome by Caitlin Christiana, executive director of the SRCOC, introduction by Springfield Regional Development Corporation Executive Director Bob Flint, and community discussion and presentations by guest panel members from 10 a.m. to noon.

This unique networking event is designed to explore the benefits of the creative economy, and the opportunities it presents for the local Vermont region, “aligning communities to work smarter, not harder,” according to organizers.

“We’re focused on neighbor to neighbor, community to community, and region-wide connect-the-dots to showcase the extraordinary hive of local creative activity for the benefit of visitors and residents alike,” said Anni Mackay, owner and director of BigTown Gallery.

Panel members will include local business owner and guitar maker Scott MacDonald of S.B. Custom Instruments, Sabrina Smith and Robyn Priebe of the Steampunk Society of Vermont, and Nina Jamison, director of exhibitions at The Great Hall and founder of Gallery at the VAULT.
