MERIDEN — The Aidron Duckworth Museum in Meriden will host an opening reception from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, June 9 for two artists, Sheri Hancock-Tomek and John McKenna.
McKenna’s sculpture, Column II, is a minimal, modular sculpture elegantly installed on the grounds of the museum.
Strata Series is an exhibition of 20 new works by Hancock-Tomek, hanging in the Guest Artist Gallery.
Using the process as a guide, Hancock-Tomeck makes “delicate pieces that seem to shimmer with luminosity,” according to a press release from the museum.
Works on display will be from two recent series. The first, Strata Series, is a collection of relief solarplate prints, while the Strate Shapes Series are a collection of relief solarplate with chine colle. The images develop over time, letting the layering of ink form the following step.
Hancock-Tomeck is a printmaker and graphic designer in Hanover. She is the board chair at Two Rivers Printmaking Studio in White River Junction, Vermont. Her work will be on display from June 9 through July 22 at the museum.
An artist talk will take place at 4 p.m. June 9. McKenna will perform a musical piece at 5 p.m.
