CLAREMONT — The Greater Claremont Chamber of Commerce (GCCOC) is pleased to announce this year’s Scholarship Fund recipient is Gisele Dierks. She is a senior at Fall Mountain Regional High School and a resident of Charlestown, New Hampshire.

The scholarship award was formally presented at Fall Mountain Regional High School’s Awards night on May 31. Gisele also joined the GCCOC at its annual meeting on June 6 for an additional presentation of the award.

The selection process was not an easy one, as the Scholarship Committee received many qualified applications. Dierks’ application stood out to this year’s committee. She has volunteered more than 50 hours of her time with Interact, the Hospitality Club, the National Honor Society, and the Charlestown Historical Society. She also participated in many athletic and music programs during her high school career with a 4.05-grade point average, all according to a press release from the Chamber.

One of her letters of recommendation reads: “She has already demonstrated many of the characteristics necessary for success in college. She drinks in knowledge, participates in academic discussions and can speak up for herself.” It has also been said that she has a beautiful ability to look at the glass as half full versus half empty and has a genuine appreciation for learning.

Annually, the Chamber’s Scholarship Fund accepts applications from graduating seniors residing in Claremont, Charlestown, Cornish, Lempster, Plainfield, and Unity. Since 1996, the GCCOC has given a scholarship to a graduating senior in the greater Claremont area. The recipient, parent, or a legal guardian must be employed by or volunteer with a current member of the Chamber. The recipient must also show evidence of community service hours above and beyond those required for graduation and hold at least a 2.5-grade point average.

The Scholarship Fund is a 501(c)3 organization managed by the GCCOC. Since 1917, the Chamber of Commerce has been playing a significant leadership role in shaping the economic and social growth of the city by encouraging residents and visitors to do business locally. Over the years, the Chamber has developed unique and innovative partnerships with the city’s business, civic and nonprofit communities to maintain a strong, safe, and viable Region. The GCCOC is a non-profit 501(c)(6) organization formed to represent business interests within the communities it serves. To learn more, visit www.greaterlcaremontnh.org or call (603) 543-1296.
