CORNISH — The Power of Produce (POP) Club at the Edgewater Farmstand is looking for a few volunteers to host its table at the Farmstand from 3 to 5 p.m. on Wednesdays, from June 27 though Aug. 15. Volunteers are welcome to help out for one, or multiple, two-hour days. All help is welcome and appreciated.
POP Clubs are farmers’ market and farmstand programs for children ages 5-12. Every week, children can participate in the activity of the day, sample some fruits and vegetables, and are given $3 worth of tokens to spend on the fresh produce of their choosing. The goals are supporting local fruit and vegetable growers and improving child nutrition. More information is available at vitalcommunities.org/valleyfoodfarm/powerofproduce/.
This is a fun volunteer opportunity. Volunteer responsibilities are simple and include preparing the table (all materials provided), registering participating children on a simple sign-up card, guiding them through the activity of the day (all activities provided), doling out the tokens, and putting table supplies back at the end of the two hours. Activities are easy, fun, and impactful.
