Colby-Sawyer alpine coach leaving after five-year stint

NEW LONDON — Colby-Sawyer College men’s and women’s alpine ski racing Head Coach Jake Fisher has resigned after five seasons.

Fisher and family are moving back to Vermont to pursue other opportunities.

A search for the new Colby-Sawyer men’s and women’s alpine ski racing coach is underway.

“It is with sincere regret that I announce my decision to leave the Colby-Sawyer Ski Team, as my wife and I have made the decision to return to Vermont,” said Fisher.

“Over the past five years I have had the pleasure to work with an incredibly motivated, hard-working and fun group of athletes and I will very much miss this coaching role. This team has a bright future and I look forward to following their success as individuals and as a team in the upcoming seasons.”

“I would like to thank George Martin and Colby-Sawyer for giving me the opportunity to coach at a fantastic school. The athletics department does a wonderful job of supporting their teams and coaches and it was a pleasure to be a part of this department. I will always look back on my time at CSC with fondness.”

Fisher led the Chargers for five years in the most competitive league in collegiate skiing; the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association (EISA). During his time, he coached numerous impressive student-athletes including just the third Charger in program history to compete at the NCAA Championships, who earned the invitation for being in the top-16 of the region.

“We would like to thank Jake for his five years of dedication and commitment to Colby-Sawyer and the student-athletes of our ski program,” said Athletic Director George Martin.

“Jake has impacted the Colby-Sawyer ski program significantly by enhancing the quality of the experience for our student-athletes. With a solid core of returning skiers and an outstanding group of incoming athletes, Jake is leaving the program in a position to be successful on the hill. We wish Jake and his family great success in all they do in the future.”
