NEWBURY — Evangelia “Poppy” Pana Davis, age 95, of Blodgett Landing, Newbury, New Hampshire and Cherry Hill, New Jersey, died on June 6, 2018 at the Brightview Woodburn Assisted Living Center in Annandale, Virginia. Poppy was born in 1922 in Asmara, Eritrea. She met and married her husband, Col. Woodrow W. Davis of Sutton and Charlestown, New Hampshire, in Asmara and moved to the U.S. in 1945. She was predeceased by her husband in 1979.
Poppy was a dedicated military wife and Mother. She also made selfless contributions to the American Red Cross as a volunteer and served with them for over 57 years. She also volunteered at the New London hospital.
In 2015, she received the Berrie Award which is given annually to 10 New Jersey citizens who have made a difference in the lives of N.J. citizens. Other passions included cooking, floral arranging, bridge, singing and painting.
Poppy is survived by her three children and their spouses; two grandchildren and their spouses; two great-grand children, and many loving nephews and nieces.
Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery on a date yet to be determined.
In lieu of flowers, charitable contributions may be given to the American Red Cross.
