WESTMINSTER, Vt. — This year marks the 17th anniversary of the Garden Tour, an event that has become a major fundraiser for Westminster Cares. This year’s tour is scheduled to take place the weekend of June 30 and July 1, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days.
Garden hosts and designers will share their gardens and will give talks and tours. The 2018 Tour will feature the gardens of Gordon and Mary Hayward, Julie Moir Messervy, Lonnie and Obe Lisai, and a sculpture garden by Joshua Gold Pottery in Westminster West.
Special events planned for this year include the following:
Saturday only, a private guided tour by Gordon and Mary Hayward will take place in their garden, (extra ticket needed) at 3 p.m. On Saturday and Sunday, a “Before and After, Rain Garden Walking Tour” will take place, from 10:30 to noon on both days, with Cyndy Fine of Genius Loci. This takes place in Saxtons River; entry will be included with ticket.
Julie Moir Messervy will present talks on “New Landscaping Ideas that Work” from 1:15 to 2:30 p.m. both days in her garden; entry included with ticket.
A fabulous lunch with desserts and homemade refreshments will be served in the Hayward gardens on both days; stroll the gardens to hear live music.
Raffle tickets will be available from Westminster Cares board members, or from the office, to win a chance at 10 prizes, including a garden-inspired handmade quilt featuring a pinwheel design.
Tickets are good for both days of the tour. During the tour, weekend tickets prices are $16 for one, or two for $28. Discounts are available for groups of five or more and for those who purchase tickets before June 22.
