MOVIE NIGHT ON THE GREEN

Come out and watch movies at our Open Air cinema. Bring your friends, family, blankets, and relax out under the stars while watching some new favorite movies that kick off at dusk, Visitor Center Green and Barnes Park, free, please abide by park regulations, no glass or alcohol allowed, movies are dependent on the weather. “Your Hometown Band” begins its summer season of great music from the Mary Haddad Bandstand on the Sargent Common in New London, 6:30-8 p.m., in the event of rain, concerts will be held in the Whipple Memorial Town Hall adjacent to the common.

WILDCAT FIRE TRAIL 5k

Church of the Epiphany, stone church on the Newport Common, 4-6 p.m., free community dinner, baked ziti, fresh summer salad, garlic bread, the Sunshine Diner is a community diner on the last Sunday of every month, everyone, without exception is eelcomewelcome, food is provided by local farms, the Newport Food Pantry and community volunteers, donations gratefully accepted, hosted in collaboration with the Bunny Bunch 4-H Club.

Dr. Harp. a four-piece blues band specializing in the driving boogie blues popularized by Johnny Winter, George Thorogood and the J. Geils Band, a sound that owes equal debts to Chuck Berry and John Lee Hooker, Dennis Martin took up the harmonica at age 10, over a 30-year professional career he’s performed all over the world, 6:30-8:30 p.m.

Antique Boat Parade, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., this event includes crafts, activities and games for children, live aquatic plant specimens, live animals from Wildlife Encounters, scavenger hunt, loon exhibit, ice cream, popcorn demonstrations, including an active stream table and lovingly restored antique boats on display and in the parade. We will also be collecting used eye glasses to benefit the Lions Club.
