SPRINGFIELD, Vt. — Every Elks Lodge in the country celebrates Flag Day annually on June 14, with the history of the American Flag starting in the 1700s. This year’s ceremony in Springfield was performed by the officers of Springfield Elks Lodge 1560 and area Boys and Cub Scouts.

This year, the Lodge also handed out Eagle Scout plaques to “two fine young men of Troop 252 in Springfield who had recently reached the rank of this high and prestigious level of the Boy Scouts of America,” according to a press release. Their Scoutmaster, Bruce Czwakiel, remarked that both young men had worked very hard over the past six years to gain this rank. They are Joshua Aldrich and Richard Stokarski, both of Springfield.
