Richard Gould

NEWPORT — Richard Gould died unexpectedly at New London Hospital on June 26, 2018 at the age of 66.

Richard was born on Aug. 12, 1951 in Newport, New Hampshire to Donald and Lena (King) Gould.

Born deaf, he surpassed everyone’s expectations when he graduated from Crotched Mountain School for the Deaf at the young age of 16.

He worked a variety of jobs throughout his life, including the Hood milk factory in Claremont, Arlington Book in Newport, Cote & Reney Lumber in Grantham, the Eagle Times in Claremont, and Collision Pro in Newport.

His children remember him as a outgoing guy who loved to make people laugh. While often a jokester, Richard had a big heart and wouldn’t hesitate to give you the shirt off his back. He was passionate about racing and working on cars, wheelies on motor scooters, and tractors. Above all, he loved his family, especially his grandchildren.

Richard is predeceased by his mother. Surviving family members include his father; son, Travis and his wife Corina Gould of Enfield; daughter, Wendy Willets and her significant other Jeffrey Keyser of Claremont; brothers, Bruce and his wife Linda Gould of Virginia, and Orbit and his wife Tammy Gould of Newport; grandchildren, Elliot, Britnie, Kenneth, Haley, and Chevy; and many other family and extended family members. A special thank you goes to his ASL interpreters, Melody and David.

Visitation will take place from 11 a.m. to noon on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at the Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home in Newport. A graveside service will immediately follow at North Newport Cemetery in Newport.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a memorial donation to the Newton-Bartlett Funeral Home to help the family cover expenses.
