TUNBRIDGE, Vt. — Police in Vermont are seeking any information from the public on a shooting incident that critically injured a woman on Saturday evening in Tunbridge, Vermont.
The victim, who police have identified as 88-year-old Edith Whitney, is in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, and was listed in critical condition as of Sunday, July 1.
The Vermont State Police were contacted at approximately 8:29 p.m. on Saturday, June 30 regarding an apparent shooting victim located at 240 Spring Road in Tunbridge.
Members of the Vermont State Police Field Force Division, Bureau of Criminal Investigation Division and members of the Vermont Department of Fish and Wildlife responded to investigate.
Investigators learned that the female victim had been outside her residence when she was “struck with a projectile.” Friends and neighbors immediately began rendering aid to Whitney, and she was later transported to DHMC in Lebanon, New Hampshire, where she underwent emergency surgery, all according to the Vermont State Police.
The investigation into this matter is ongoing.
