Relocation of Willing Hands produce-drop to Cornish Town Hall has been a success

COURTESY
CORNISH — Six weeks ago, with the permission of the Cornish selectboard, Willing Hands Produce drop relocated to the Cornish Town Hall. The move has provided much more space both in the building, and for parking. We also have the ability to store our baskets and other supplies rather than having to bring them each week.

The purpose of Willing Hands Produce drop is to assist families with stretching their budgets, while providing the opportunity to eat healthy. It is intended to supplement opposed to being a primary source. Although housed in Cornish, they welcome all who come. On average one third of the families who come reside in Cornish, Meriden, or Plainfield. Another third of the families reside in Claremont, and the last third are in other communities. Each week an average of 35 to 45 families come. In the month of June they provided food for 356 people. About one half of the 356 people were seniors.

Several farms or families in the area have donated fresh eggs which are always appreciated. With the growing season underway if anyone has extra fresh produce they would like to share, they may drop it off at the town hall. Donations should be dropped off by 11:30 a.m. if possible.

Food is available for pick-up each Wednesday from 11:45 a.m.-2:15 p.m. For questions or further information please call Pam Annis at 542-3781
