WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, Vt. (AP) — Officials at Vermont’s Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center say crews are working to repair the hospital’s operating rooms so they can be reopened the week of July 16.

A sprinkler head in the main building at the White River Junction VA burst on June 28, pouring water into administrative offices and the surgical suite. No patient rooms were affected.

The VA says crews are working around the clock to restore affected areas. A repair is required for parts controlling the temperature and humidity in the operating rooms.

Surgical cases that had been scheduled through July 13 are being rescheduled.

There’s no word on what caused the sprinkler malfunction.
