Local 13 year-old finding success on national stage

Matthew Winter II, a 13 year-old from Alstead, NH, has been racing go-karts for over two and a half years. He has racked up multiple first place finishes on the national stage. He is currently running for points in the AKRA Northern Sprint Series, where he has already placed first in both races in Chestertown, MD and also won the pole in both races as well.

Matthew has also participated in the AKRA Southern Sprint Cup Tour, where he earned a first and second place at Jacksonville, FL while winning the pole each day. In the current Northern Sprint Series, Matthew is heading to Thompson, OH on July 28 and 29 for a national race. He said he is looking forward to the national race coming up in Canaan, NH on August 10-12 because it is his local track and his friends and family will be able to come and watch him compete.

“I like the intensity, going fast, and the competition,” said Matthew. “I like traveling around to other tracks as well and meeting new people.”

Matthew’s father, Matthew Sr., said, “I love seeing Matthew work hard and being successful on the track representing the companies that help him. It makes me very proud to see him overcome his changes on the bad days we have. It makes the wins that much sweeter.”

So far, Matthew has three first place finishes and one second place on the national level. He is sponsored by Beeze Tees, Vinyl Images, and Pioneer Indoor Karting and he is still in need of more sponsors.
