GRANTHAM — Grantham’s Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day will take place on July 28. The collection will be from 9 a.m. to noon at Grantham Town Hall, 300 Route 10 South, Grantham.
Grantham residents bringing waste items are asked to enter via Dunbar Hill Road, as the main entrance to town hall will be closed during this time.
This event is open to Grantham residents only. Residents must display their current 2018 Transfer Station hang tag.
Items allowed during the collection will include oil-based paints, stains, varnishes, paint thinners, fuels, roofing tar, swimming pool chemicals, transmission fluids, insecticides, chemical fertilizers, fluorescent bulbs, drain and toilet cleaners, photo chemicals, oven cleaner, and more. They must be left in original containers, with lids and caps tightened, sorted and packed separately (do not mix chemicals) and driven directly to the site.
Not included in the collection will be commercial or industrial waste, smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, prescription medications, propane cylinders, computers, asbestos, and latex paints, among other items.
