HANOVER — Ledyard National Bank, based in Hanover, has once again sponsored COVER’s Ramps and Roofs Fund.
“We are pleased to have Ledyard National Bank’s support again. The Byrne Foundation is matching all sponsors of the fund. Our goal is to make homes safe, warm, and dry,” said longtime COVER board member Phil Vermeer, in a press release.
COVER organizes more than 250 volunteers per year, under the supervision of skilled work crew leaders, to complete many projects including accessibility ramps and mobile home roof replacements. The Ramps and Roofs fund pays for the building materials for home owners who can afford the cost of repairs. Qualified homeowners are often elderly living on low, fixed incomes, those in walkers or wheel chairs who need accessibility ramps, rails or grab bars.
“Ledyard supports COVER’s mission of fostering hope and building community around urgently need home repairs. COVER represents the best of the New England barn raising tradition of neighbors helping neighbors,” said Jeffrey Marks, senior vice president and chief marketing officer.
COVER’s mission can be supported by donating gently used furniture, appliances, tools, kitchen or bathroom cabinets, windows, doors, and other building materials to the COVER Store at 158 South Main St., White River Junction, now open Mondays, seven days per week.
The COVER Store has a free pickup service if a donation does not fit into the donor’s vehicle. Volunteer opportunities in the store include sales, merchandizing, and special projects. All net sales proceeds support the home repair program.
