BELLOWS FALLS, Vt. — Stone Church Arts presents international violin sensation Jason Anick with cellist Eugene Friesen and bassist Eliot Wadopian in a special concert of Gypsy Jazz and Brazilian Choros. The concert is part of Eugene Friesen’s Gypsy Jazz and Brazilian weekend workshop, and is open to the public at 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 13 at Immanuel Episcopal Church, 20 Church St., Bellows Falls.
Anick, violin and mandolin soloist with the sizzling hot Rhythm Future Quartet, has been singled out by Downbeat Magazine as a rising star in jazz. He will be teaming up with Friesen, a Vermont cellist, world traveler and avid student of Brazilian music. Trained at the Yale School of Music, Friesen has taken his classical background and expanded into the music of the world. A four-time Grammy Award-winner, he is a busy concert and recording artist and is on the faculty of the Berklee College of Music in Boston.
They be joined by Eliot Wadopian, Grammy Award-winning bassist with the Paul Winter Consort. Hailing from North Carolina, Eliot is versed in both jazz, classical and world music. Eliot’s trio, Free Planet Radio, has toured all over the world with their blend of international musical styles, innovative improvising, and original compositions.
