SUNAPEE — Nearly 900 servings of spaghetti and meatballs, Woodbine desserts, bread and salad, sliders and smoothies and the popular root beer floats in commemorative mugs were served at no cost to participants at the Sunapee Sestercentennial celebration on Saturday night, July 14. The Taste of Sunapee was hosted by five organizations: Stacey’s Smoothies; The Livery; The Sunapee Historical Society; Sunapee Recreation Department; and the Sunapee Police & Fire Associations.
All hosted and provided refreshments at locations in the harbor and village, offering residents and visitors the opportunity to come and visit with the neighbors and reacquaint with the seasonal folks coming back to town. Members of the Sestercentennial Committee were also present at each venue to provide information about the celebration events and provide schedules and information.
Examples of the commemorative display items were available that can be purchased at various locations and online through the store on the website, sunapeenh250.org.
Bar Harbor Bank & Trust has also donated $500 to help with the celebration, organizers said.
Registrations are still being taken for the Sestercentennial Parade. To register, visit the website; go to the Sunapee Happenings Calendar to get a listing of all activities from the many town organizations and agencies.
