NEWBURY — Josephine S. Snow, born Josephine Assunta Rubano, on Aug. 11, 1939 to Gennaro and Marie Rubano in New York City, New York and raised in the Bronx, New York, passed away on June 26, 2018 after a long period of declining health with family at her side. As was her wish, she was able to spend the past nine months at her home in Newbury, after suffering a severe stroke. Josephine’s wish to pass at home was made a reality because of the selfless dedication of her daughter-in-law, Mandy, who temporarily re-located from Ohio along with Josephine’s son Lou and three of Jo’s grandchildren to provide excellent care and comfort. The angel medical staff of Lake Sunapee Region VNA and Hospice as well as the staff of Home Instead provided Mandy and our family with support and Josephine with tremendous nursing care.
Jo was predeceased by her parents and her beloved brother Nicholas, as well as both of her husbands, Louis P. LeRoux and Harry M. Snow. She is survived by her daughter and son-in law Marie and Clayton “Skip” Poole and her grandsons CJ and Nick Poole of Bow, New Hampshire, as well as her son and daughter-in-law Louis G. LeRoux and Miranda Benninghove-LeRoux of Coolville, Ohio. In addition, she leaves her grandchildren, Lou LeRoux of Lee, New Hampshire, Boyd and Paisley LeRoux and Cassidy, Lacie and Sadie Atherton of Ohio.
Jo spent the better part of her career working for Concord Group Insurance where she very much enjoyed her work and felt fortunate to forge lifelong friendships with her colleagues. She was a communicant and Lay Eucharistic Minister of the Church of the Epiphany in Newport, New Hampshire, as well as being a member of the Vestry and finance committee for many years.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on July 25, 2018 at Epiphany Church in Newport at 1 p.m. Josephine’s remains will be interned at St. Raymond’s Cemetery in the Bronx, New York with her mother, father and brother.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lake Sunapee Region VNA and Hospice, P.O. Box 2209, New London, NH 03257.
