Mary E. Cook

CLAREMONT — Mary E. Cook, 92, passed away on July 19, 2018 at Sullivan County Health Care. She was born in Lebanon, New Hampshire on Aug. 15, 1925, the daughter of Henry and Florence (Painchaud) Doiron. Mary had resided in Claremont on Mulberry Street for over 30 years and on Myrtle Street for 13.

She was a 1943 graduate of St. Mary’s High School. Mrs. Cook worked as a night companion for over 25 years for Verna Thibeault and she retired in 1997. She had previously worked at Don’s Market for 17 years and F.W. Woolworth for a short period of time. She was a member of the Claremont Senior Center and the Claremont A.A.R.P.

Her family includes her sons, Kenneth E. Cook and his wife, Elaine of Windham, Maine, and Donald E. Cook of Newport; grandchildren, Stephanie Cook, Jeffrey Cook and his wife Billie of Maine; great-grandchildren, Spencer Cook and Ian Cook; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; son, Alan E. Cook; sister, Hazel Montano; and brother, Stanton Doiron.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. July 27 at St. Mary’s Church in Claremont. Calling hours will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Stringer Funeral Home in Claremont prior to the service. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
