The Precision Valley Disaster Recovery Committee is operating a shelter with the support of the Red Cross, the Springfield Housing Authority, and the Springfield Warming Shelter for some of the people
affected by the evacuation of all 74 apartments in the Whitcomb building. The shelter is located in the Huber Building and started with 8 people on Friday night and grew to 15 people by Saturday night.

The Precision Valley Disaster Recover Committee was formed in response to Hurricane Irene and has been in standby mode since working with the people in the Springfield and Windsor County areas who were affected by the storm. PVDRC is a COAD (Community Organizations Assisting in Disasters) which provides a focal point for providing assistance from local community organizations like the Red Cross and SEVCA, as well as various disaster response teams from outside our community.
