CONCORD – The New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) announced on Friday that it has received further information from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) that the award announced last month for the State Opioid Response (SOR) grant was a total of $22.9 million for each of two years, totaling $45.8 million over the two-year award period.
SAMHSA provided this clarification to New Hampshire, acknowledging that the wording of its federal opportunity announcement was not clear. The department yesterday received confirmation of the total amount from SAMHSA, according to a press release.
The additional $22.9 million for the next fiscal year will allow the State to fund many of the needs identified by providers, families and other stakeholders to an even greater extent than planned. Last Monday, the department held a public session to hear input for the use of the SOR grant, and it has also solicited written submissions.
Confirmation by SAMHSA of the state’s eligibility for $45.8 million over the next two years will now allow a broader range of services and programs for prevention, treatment and recovery across the entire state. The department will submit its proposed plan for the SOR grant On or before Aug. 13. Final award of the monies is expected on or about Sept. 30.
