WINDSOR, Vt. — On July 29 the Vermont State Police arrested Joshua Rondeau, 38, of Windsor Vermont, for negligent operation with death resulting. Rondeau was processed and released on a criminal citation to appear in Windsor Superior Court on Sept. 25 at 8 a.m. to answer to the charge of negligent operation with death resulting, a violation of T-23 section 1091. Vermont law state is must be determined “whether the person breached a duty to exercise ordinary care. A person who violates this subsection shall be imprisoned not more than one year or fined not more than $1,000.00, or both.”
Rondeau was in an accident on June 28 at 7:33 a.m. on I-91 north bound in Hartland near Exit 9. It had been raining and the roads were wet. Investigation revealed that the 2008 Chevy truck being operated by Rondeau was traveling south bound on I-91, lost control and crossed the median striking a northbound 2007 Toyota Matrix head on.
The operator of the Toyota Matrix, Laura McNaughton, 36, of Perkinsville, Vermont was pronounced dead at the scene. Her 8-year-old child sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. The operator of the Chevy truck and two juvenile occupants, an 8-year-old and an11-year-old were also transported to DHMC with non-life threatening injuries.
