Now that was a week full of rain that fell every day with the exception of Sunday. It made a steady appearance. On many days there were drenching downpours spread in with lighter periods of rain.
Vegetable gardens welcomed all the rain. They were the beneficiaries with each passing day. Lawns and hayfields also sprang to life after a long period with virtually little or no rain at all.
And to top off the week, the humidity made a five-day appearance. Homes without air conditioning or fans felt the sting of heat. It wasn’t exactly perfect jogging weather either.
This section of the state was spared the strong thunderstorms that made their way through much of central and eastern sections of the state Saturday afternoon that featured high winds, heavy rain and plenty of lightning.
