Foundation awards $5,000 to Claremont Learning Partnership

CLAREMONT — The New Hampshire Women’s Foundation (NHWF) announced on Thursday its 2018 slate of grant award recipients, including a $5,000 grant to Claremont Learning Partnership.

Claremont Learning Partnership, which “seeks to create a community that values and supports lifelong learning in Claremont,” was awarded the grant to provide transitional housing for teen parents completing their high school education, all according to a press release.

The foundation’s grant program strives to support the women and girls in the Granite State by supporting organizations that are making a difference in their daily lives, according to a press release.

“Not only is supporting organizations that offer innovative and promising solutions to issues related to gender equality part of our mission,” said CEO, Tanna Clews, “but it is critical to building strong communities. We are delighted to be able to invest in these organizations providing on-the-ground services to the women and girls of New Hampshire.”

This year’s grant-making awarded more than $82,000 to organizations across the state, organizers said.

In June, the NHWF presented the $7,500 Pathways to Prosperity Grant, given annually to an organization which works to boost the economic success of women and girls in the Granite State, to Lakes Region Community Developers (LRCD) for their Transitional Shelter Program for Homeless Families. LRCD has served low and moderate income community members for the past 25 years by developing high-quality, affordable rental housing throughout the Lakes Region.

The grant to Claremont Learning Partnership was among 19 Community Grants this month, worth nearly $75,000, awarded to organizations from almost every county in the state that provide day-to-day support to the women and girls of New Hampshire.

Grants went to help end homelessness, support day care centers in low-income areas, provide support for victims of domestic abuse, provide education programs to empower girls, offer financial training to low-income women, provide language support to New Americans, and support reproductive health services, among many others.
