Highway antics lead to arrest on suspicion of DUI

SPRINGFIELD, Vt. — A New York man has been charge on suspicion of DUI drugs after he was spotted by police getting in and out of a vehicle on a Vermont highway.

Vermont State Police responded at approximately 4:17 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1 to a report of motor vehicle complaint in which the complainant advised a male was “jumping in and out of a black SUV” on Interstate 91 north near mile marker 46 in the town of Springfield, Vermont.

Vermont State Police arrived on scene and observed a black 2017 Audi Q7 parked in the median and passing lane on I-91.

During the investigation, police determined that Jesse B. Scanlon, 19, of Southampton, New York was the operator of the vehicle, all according to a press release from the VSP. Scanlon was later arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs, according to police.

Scanlon was later released with a criminal citation. He is scheduled to appear at 8 a.m. on Sept. 25 in Vermont Superior Court, Windsor Criminal Division to answer to the charge.
