CHARLESTOWN — Richard Colby, 68, of Charlestown, New Hampshire died on July 30 surrounded by his family of friends and caregivers. He died at Peaceful Harvest Homes, where he has resided for the last 22 years, after a period of failing health.

He was born in Claremont, New Hampshire on Sept. 26, 1949 to Earl and Evelyn (Fluette) Colby. He lived in Claremont until 1996 when he moved to Charlestown. He was one of the friendliest people you could meet. He greeted everyone who came to Peaceful Harvest with a great big “Hi” and an inquiry as to how you were. He enjoyed going to the New Hampshire NASCAR Races. He was an avid Swamp Bats fan and attended many, many games over the years, his best one being on June 20, 2018. X-Box bowling was a favorite game he played with his friends at Peaceful Harvest. He had a great love of animals, especially dogs, and especially Athena who resided at Peaceful Harvest. He will be sadly missed, and we will always carry his memory in our hearts.

Richard is survived by his sister, Sheila Belanger, and brother in-law Dennis of Virginia, his nephew Mathew Belanger of New York, and all his family at Peaceful Harvest Homes. Richard was predeceased by his parents and a half-brother, Roger Colby.

There will be a celebration of Richard’s life at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 3 at Peaceful Harvest, 144 Paris Ave., Charlestown.
