Chamber, business collaborate on Sidewalk Sales event

SPRINGFIELD, Vt. — The Springfield Regional Chamber of Commerce is collaborating with area businesses and retailers, coordinating a Springfield Sidewalk Sales event for Saturday, Aug. 11. Springfield Sidewalk Sales is a community-wide event, showcasing the many wonderful and unique goods and services available in this area, and offering shoppers the opportunity to learn more about local products, try new things, and enjoy great savings, according to a press release from the Chamber. All are welcome to marks their calendars and get ready for a fun day of exploring.

Dark Mountain Games, Springfield’s downtown family-owned hobby shop, strives for “Reconnecting people through face to face social interaction.” Their shop will be offering the following discounts on Saturday: 30 percent off First Martians, 1901, Rails of New England, Dark Gothic, Last Night on Earth, A Touch of Evil; 20 percent off Arkham Horror and expansions, Sea Fall, Champions of Midgard, all Pandemic titles, Arcadia Quest, Seasons and expansions, Munchkin and expansions; and 10 percent off all Days of Wonder titles.

Curious about what some of the classes at the Edgar May Health & Recreation Center are like, but not sure if you could use the equipment? The center will be demoing Spin, TRX and BOGA outside their Studio Momentum at 71 Main St. Jump on a spin bike for a few minutes and get your heart rate up, or try some TRX rows. The best part: If you like it, there will be great deals on classes to get started in the Studio. Also try out BOGA without the risk of falling in the water. Jordan and Kim will be outside Studio Momentum with their portable BOGA setup; try out a few moves from the workout and get a free pass for an upcoming BOGA class.

Flying Crow Coffee Co. will be doing a sidewalk sale out front of its downtown location at 3 Main St. (moving inside if it rains). Pounds of coffee for only $14 (usually $16) and half pounds for $7 (usually $8), free iced coffee and snacks from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; also some giveaways, which will be announced on Flying Crow’s Facebook page.

Gallery at the VAULT’s Artful Flea returns from 10 a.m, to 5 p.m. on Aug. 11 as a fun part of Springfield’s Sidewalk Sale. Artful finds and finds that can be used artfully, also craft supplies, jewelry, other treasures. Proceeds benefit VAULT’s Art Programs.

Our friends at H&R Block are excited to be a part of Springfield Sidewalk Sales. Their staff will be on site at their 31 Main St. location offering popcorn, lemonade, and cookies, and providing important information about the new tax law changes. Be sure to stop by to say hi, enjoy some goodies, and get the scoop.

Springfield’s favorite second-hand clothing store, Shannon’s Upscale Resale, offers trendy and fashionable apparel at affordable prices. They will be having a sale at their 1 Main St. location – their Facebook page will have updates.

The Springfield Farmer’s Market at 280 Clinton St. will be open from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, offering seasonal local produce, meat, honey, maple products, crafts and prepared foods, with live music and a family-friendly setting.

The Springfield Food Co-op at 335 River Street in North Springfield will be having a tent sale, with all items including housewares, body care, and supplements will be drastically reduced for clearance.

The Springfield Town Library is doing a pop-up book sale from 10 a.m to 1 p.m. Stop by 43 Main St. and find the Friends with many new books on sale. Next to those tables, children can jump into free science and tech activities with Michelle Stinson. In case of rain, everything will be inside the Springfield Town Library.

Tina’s Hallmark will be open 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. on Aug. 11. They will be having a sidewalk sale outside the store and sale items inside. These items will be discounted an additional 15 percent on the already discounted price, a savings of 65-75 percent off on sale items.

The United Methodist Church at 10 Valley St. is hosting a bake sale, silent auction, and offering roasted corn-on-the-cob from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for Springfield Sidewalk Sales. The event also coincides with their 2nd Saturday Community Supper at 5 p.m. Hotdogs, salads, beverage and dessert. Everyone is welcome!

Woodbury Florist in North Springfield will be having a porch sale with up to 75 percent off select items. Shrubs, perennials, and house plants will all be 25 percent off that Saturday.

For those who have have worked up an appetite after all that exploring, treat yourself to a nice meal at one of the area restaurants: Sheri’s Place, Black Rock Steakhouse, The Copper Fox, The Subway, and Hartness House will all be open that evening for your dining pleasure. Then maybe round out the day with a few games of bowling at Up Your Alley, or catch a flick at Springfield Cinemas 3. The Springfield Regional Chamber is proud to represent the many wonderful businesses in our area, and hopes everyone will enjoy this opportunity to check out some places they have never visited during Springfield Sidewalk Sales.
