Cavendish man suspected of first-degree assault

CAVENDISH, Vt. — Troopers from the Vermont State Police Westminster Barracks were summoned at approximately 10:19 a.m. Friday, Aug. 3 to a home on Vermont Route 131 in Cavendish for a reported assault.

A police investigation led to the arrest of Billy Joe Snide, 49, of Cavendish, who is charged on suspicion of allegedly assaulted another family member inside the home, according to a press release from VSP.

Snide was subsequently arrested on a charge of alleged First Degree Aggravated Domestic Assault, and transported to the Westminster Barracks for processing. He was fingerprinted, photographed and issued a citation to appear in court at a later date. The Hon. Judge Michael Harris was contacted and ordered the defendant released on conditions, all according to police.

Snide has been scheduled to appear at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6 Windsor County Superior Court.
