Sunapee’s 250th closing ceremony set for Aug. 19

SUNAPEE — What a wonderful donation to the Sestercentennial fund from Virginia McTighe of California in memory of Brenda Huff! Thank you very much.

A little information about the Sestercentennial closing ceremony on Sunday the Aug. 19th.

The entire community is asked to meet at Veterans’ Field (between Bar Harbor Bank & Trust and the Safety Services Building) at 4:30 p.m. The closing ceremony will be emceed by Police Chief Dave Cahill and feature music, to include a Sunapee song, by the Time Travelers, a reading of a Gubernatorial Proclamation, some words from a few elected officials and a narrative of what is in the time capsule then dedication of the capsule.

The actual burying of the time capsule at the Sunapee Archives, across the walkway from the bicentennial time capsule, will take place later in the year after all the celebration documents and photos are collected and collated.

Once the formal ceremony is concluded we hope everyone will gather on the field for a community photo taken by Jonathan Ryba with his drone in the air, and the official Sestercetennial photographer, Paul Howe.

Information and parking will follow as we get closer.
