Perkinsville woman suspected of DUI, false info following crash

ROCKINGHAM, Vt. — Police have charged a Perkinsville, Vermont woman on suspicion of driving under the influence and giving false information to law enforcement authorities, following a Saturday night car crash in Rockingham, Vermont.

Vermont State Police responded at 9:41 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 11 to a report of a single vehicle crash on Interstate 91 north near mile marker 37.6 in the town of Rockingham. State police arrived on scene and observed a 2010 Honda Civic at a “position of uncontrolled rest in the middle of the roadway with total damage,” according to a press release from VSP.

During the investigation, it was determined that Sophia R. Zeigfinger, 30, of Perkinsville was the operator of the vehicle, according to police. Zeigfinger was later arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and for allegedly providing false information to law enforcement authorities, all according to the VSP.

Zeigfinger was transported to the Vermont State Police Barracks in Westminster for processing, and was lodged at the Southern State Correctional Facility with a criminal citation. She is scheduled to appear on the morning of Aug. 28 in Vermont Superior Court, Windham Criminal Division, to answer to the charges.
