NEWPORT — Robert “Bob” Germana Sr. was born in Waterbury, Vt., in 1947. He passed on Monday, Aug. 13, 2018.
Bob was a husband, father, son, brother, grandfather, uncle, godfather, and friend. He was well loved by all that knew him. Bob was the strong center of his family. His guidance and love was felt by all of those around him. He was a fantastic storyteller who enjoyed discussing how things used to be.
When not spending time with his family he enjoyed spending time outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter – he especially enjoyed turkey hunting. He enjoyed traveling with his wife and family. He was an enthusiastic NASCAR fan. He loved to cook and was well known for his “famous” Mac ‘n Cheese.
He was a long-time employee of Sturm, Ruger, having recently received his 35-year jacket. After officially retiring three years ago, he decided to remain at Sturm, Ruger as a part-time employee. He enjoyed the camaraderie he had with his co-workers and called many of them friend.
Bob was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. He was an active member of the Croydon Church and enjoyed serving as deacon.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Donna Germana. He is also survived, and will be greatly missed, by his mother, brother, two sons, two daughters, eight grandchildren, and beloved pets.
There will be a ceremony celebrating Bob’s life at the Croydon Flat Church at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 18. There will be a reception immediately following the service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob’s name to the Croydon Flat Church.
