UPDATE: 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21:
On Aug. 20, Jesse Morey contacted Vermont State Police. He told VSP where he was, and willingly met with troopers to discuss the incident which occurred on Aug. 16. Therefore, Vermont State Police are no longer seeking Jesse Morey’s whereabouts, all according to a press release from VSP.
This case remains active, and Vermont State Police are still accepting any additional information from the public regarding this investigation.
UPDATE: 2:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 17:
WESTMINSTER, Vt. — As the investigation into this incident continues, the Vermont State Police Crime Scene Search Team examined the residence where the shooting took place, and investigators collected evidence that is consistent with the victim suffering a single self-inflicted gunshot wound. The individual has been identified as David Robichaud, 20, of Westminster, all according to the Vermont State Police.
He remains hospitalized at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire, in critical but stable condition, police said.
State police continue seeking Jesse Morey to speak to in connection with this incident. Anyone with information about his whereabouts or the incident in question is asked to call the Westminster Barracks at (802) 722-4600.
WESTMINSTER, Vt. — Vermont State Police are looking into what they are describing as a “suspicious incident” in Westminster involving a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Troopers from the VSP Westminster Barracks responded at 10:33 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16 to a residence at 341 Kimball Hill Road North, Westminster, following a 911 call, according to a press release from the VSP.
The 911 caller reported hearing “an argument followed by a gunshot,” police said. Responding troopers were speaking with subjects at the residence when they heard a gunshot from inside. When troopers went inside, they found a male armed with a firearm. This male fired one round from the weapon into his own neck, according to police.
Troopers immediately provided medical care, including CPR, until emergency personal arrived on scene. The male, whose identity and age have not been provided, was flown to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center where police say he is in critical condition.
Detectives from the Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Major Crime Unit responded to investigate this incident.
Police are attempting to locate a second male, identified as Jesse Morey, 26, who they say fled from the residence.
This investigation is ongoing, and an updated release will be provided later, police said.
