Charlestown Police Department log July 15-21

July 15

7 a.m. – Officer responded to a report of a vehicle off the road on South Hemlock Road. Upon arrival there was no one with the vehicle. Officer located the driver, who was arrested for Conduct After and Property Damage, and was transported to the hospital where he was bailed.

8:36 a.m. – Report taken of a bear in Twin Valley Estates Mobile Home Park.

11:48 a.m. – Report taken of a male subject going to a residence trying to sell candy bars.

2 p.m. – Motor vehicle stop on Fling Road. Driver was issued a summons to appear in court for operating without a valid license.

9:16 p.m – Police, fire and ambulance responded to a two-car accident on Main Street. Vehicle occupants were checked by the ambulance; one vehicle was towed from the scene.

July 16

9:37 a.m. – Officer responded to a request for a civil standby while subject repossessed a vehicle.

4:47 p.m. – Officer checked on a subject on a motorcycle parked at a hunting and sporting business parking lot. The subject was waiting for the owner so they could go out for a ride.

4:52 p.m. – Officer responded to a request to remove subjects from a residence. The subjects were gone upon the officer’s arrival.

7:49 p.m. – Officer responded to a report of a subject going door to door trying to sell a product and getting credit card information in the Hidden Valley area. The officer checked the area but did not find the described vehicle.

9:51 p.m. – Police, Ambulance and Fire responded to a one vehicle accident on Acworth Road. One patient was transported to the hospital and the vehicle was towed from the scene.

July 17

11:18 a.m. – Officer responded to a report of a maroon Chevy extended cab pickup speeding and taking pictures of houses in the Hidden Valley area. Officer checked the area; vehicle was not located.

3:13 p.m. – Report of a small gray vehicle taking pictures of a residence on Sullivan Street.

July 18

7:10 a.m. – Officer responded to a motor vehicle lock-out.

8:42 a.m. – Officer responded to a report of a deer that had been hit on Oxbrook Road that was suffering. Upon officer’s arrival, the deer was deceased.

8:59 a.m. – Officer responded to a report of cows near the road on Bellows Falls Road. Owner of the cows was contacted.

9:44 a.m. – Officer responded to a report of a business truck going through a flaggers stop sign at the intersection of River Road and Claremont Road. The business was called to advise of the complaint after the truck was not found.

2:34 p.m. – Officer picked up a large box of produce that had spilled into Wheeler Rand Road. 

2:36 p.m. – Fire, police and ambulance responded to a report of a dryer fire with the fire moving up the wall.

6:45pm – Officer arrested a Charlestown resident on a warrant; subject was transported to a corrections facility.

8:51 p.m. – A bear was reported in Ponderosa Mobile Home Park.

July 19

12:38 p.m – Report was taken of a vehicle being damaged on Bellows Falls Road due to trash coming out of another vehicle.

12:41 p.m. – Officer responded to a report of wood being in the road on Bellows Falls Road; nothing was found.

3:51 p.m. – Officer responded to a report of windows being broken in a residence on Taylor Hill, possibly by juveniles that had been hanging out in the area.

5:31 p.m. – Officer responded to a report of a window being broken in a residence on Bridge Street.

6:10 p.m. – Officers responded to a report of BBs being shot at a horse at a Borough Road residence.

6:37 p.m. – Officer responded to a report of BB gun holes in a vehicle; exact date it happened was unknown.

8:50 p.m. – Officer spoke with a resident about subject selling educational books that made the resident uncomfortable. Officer was unable to locate the subject.

July 20

5:57 a.m. – Officer responded to a vehicle off the road over an embankment on Langdon Road. No injuries were reported and the vehicle was towed from the scene.

7:26 a.m. – Officer responded to a report of a suspicious person in the wood line of her property due to her horse moving away from the barn suddenly.

1:10 p.m – Ambulance and Police responded to a report of male subject lying in the road next to his bike on Old Claremont Road. The subject was disoriented and transported to the hospital.

3:38 p.m. – Officer responded to a report of a vehicle backing up into another at an area manufacturing facility; very minor damage, both parties exchanged information.

10:07 p.m – Officer checked on a subject in an auto business parking lot. The subject was moving the vehicles in the parking lot around.

July 21

2:56 a.m. – Officer checked on an unoccupied vehicle at the Primary School.

8:46 a.m. – Officer responded to deliver an emergency message. Officer gave the subject a courtesy ride to the hospital.

12:53 p.m. – Officer responded to a report of evicted tenants going back into the apartment. Upon the officer’s arrival there was no one inside the apartment.

1:23 p.m. – Officer responded to a report of a vehicle parked blocking his driveway on River Street. The officer found no vehicles parked incorrectly.

9:01 p.m. – Officer spoke with a subject about being harassed.
