Woman gets prison for taking $63K from elderly relative

KEENE, N.H. (AP) — A woman has been sentenced to at least 1 ½ years in prison for using about $63,000 of her elderly uncle’s money for her own benefit.

The New Hampshire attorney general’s office says 50-year-old Karla Cloutier, of Winchendon, Massachusetts, pleaded guilty Tuesday in Keene to five counts of financial exploitation of an elder adult.

Prosecutors said Cloutier was her uncle’s power of attorney between 2015 and 2017. An investigation was done by the attorney general’s office and the Bureau of Elder and Adult Services.
