NEW LONDON, N.H. – August 22, 2018 – The Colby-Sawyer College women’s volleyball team has been selected to finish sixth in the 2018 Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Preseason Poll.
Colby-Sawyer (14-19), led by second-year head coach Josh Anderson, will begin its first season in the GNAC. The Chargers will be led by senior Courtney Murray and junior Naarah Cox who each garnered all-conference honors last season in the North Atlantic Conference. The team also returns its top defensive specialist in junior Morgan Flynn and junior setter Olivia Goodrich.
Three-time defending GNAC champion, Johnson & Wales, is the unanimous pick in 2018. The Wildcats reached the Elite Eight last season and will begin this year ranked No. 6 in the nation. Simmons collected all 13 second-place votes for 156 points, while Rivier collected all 13 third-place votes to accumulate 143 points. Lasell (116) and Regis (103) rounded out the top-five in the conference preseason poll matchup.
Colby-Sawyer, which received 99 points in the poll, will begin the season on Friday, August 31 with five-straight road matches. The team will play its home and GNAC opener on September 8 when they will welcome in No. 6 Johnson & Wales and Saint Joseph (CT). The Chargers will conclude the regular season with a home tri-match against Anna Maria and Norwich on October 27.
