R.I. driver clocked at 96 mph suspected of DUI, negligent operation

ROCKINGHAM, Vt. — Vermont State Police have charged a driver from Rhode Island on suspicion of driving under the influence and of negligent operation after she was allegedly clocked by police going 96 mph on Interstate-91.

VSP conducted a motor vehicle stop at approximately 3:43 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23 on a vehicle traveling 96 mph, in the clearly marked 65 mph zone, near mile marker 34, on I-91 north in the town of Rockingham.

During the investigation it was determined that the operator, Kirsten Lee, 52, of Bristol, Rhode Island, was allegedly under the influence of alcohol, all according to police.

Lee was arrested and transported to the Springfield Police Department for processing. She was fingerprinted, photographed, and released with a citation to face the charges in court on Tuesday, Sept. 11 in Windham County.
