SAXTONS RIVER, Vt. — Main Street Arts, a nonprofit community arts center, will offer several classes this fall. Classes will include sessions on colored pencil, acting for beginners and intermediate, artist resources, bonsai, fairy houses and stories, after school theaters, muse speak, and rhythm, space and character.
Beginning the second week of September will be Colored Pencil – Beginner and Intermediate with Liz Guzynski, and Fairy Houses & Stories with Heather Geoffrey.
Colored Pencil classes will take place 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. Wednesdays, Sept. 12 through Oct. 17. Cost is
$150.
This class is designed for students with some previous experience with colored pencil – it need not be extensive. Students can choose between their own or a suggested subject in order to explore a range of colored pencil techniques.
The class will explore deliberate mark-making with colored pencils, color blending techniques (both dry and “wet”), different paper surfaces, moving from photo reference to artistic composition, and developing your individual style. The instructor will give both group and individual instruction but the syllabus will be mostly student-driven. Students are encouraged to devise their own drawing projects and experiment with materials / approaches that interest them.
Participants can bring artist-grade colored pencils, paper or other support, electric pencil sharpener, transportable light, graphite pencils, erasers, brushes, tracing paper, reference material and other art materials as needed. Instructor can help to source items, but does not provide them as part of the class fee.
Fairy Houses will take place 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, with a cost of $15.
Join MSA for a morning of fairy stories and fairy houses. Come and help Main Street Arts build a natural fairy house to enter in the Grafton Fairy Festival.
Tales of fairy magic and mystery will be shared as participants build their own Fairy dwelling. Natural materials that you would like to bring and share for building the fairy house are welcome and appreciated.
