CLAREMONT — The Greater Sullivan County Public Health Network is partnering with Dartmouth-Hitchcock to offer another 2-part series on “Child Care Trainings: Trauma Informed Child Care Practices” in Claremont and the Upper Valley this fall, with the assistance of sponsors and partnerships.
Dr. Erin Barnett will provide the free six-hour training in understanding trauma, approaches to trauma-informed early childhood care that allows providers to understand the causes of aggression, avoidant, and non-compliant behaviors with strategies to build relationships and use strength-based approaches for intervention. Transforming early childcare settings allows for children to feel safe and secure, to be able to de-escalate children who have experienced trauma, all according to information from Community Health Improvement at D-H.
The sessions will take place in Claremont as follows: Part 1 will be 5:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16, and Part 2 will be 5:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, all at Remix in Claremont.
In the Upper Valley, Part 1 will take place 5:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 30, and Part 2 will take place 5:30-8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, all at the Engine Room in White River Junction, Vermont.
Continuing education credits and dinner will be provided.
