Springfield man arrested for burglary

SPRINGFIELD Vt. – Springfield police charged Samuel Colby, 36, of Springfield with burglary into an occupied dwelling on Thursday night. 

Colby was released upon the posting of $5,000 bail and on the following conditions: Not to buy, have, or use regulated drugs without a valid prescription; defendant must contact a licensed drug/alcohol counselor and take the first appointment available, subsequently following that counselor’s recommendations. Colby was further prohibited from harassing or abusing the victim of the burglary attempt in any way. 

 

Women arrested for fighting

SPRINGFIELD, Vt. — Two women have been charged with fighting after an incident that took place in the Springfield Plaza on Aug. 10. Springfield police responded to a complaint and arrested two women for allegedly fighting. Arieanna Quinlan and Courtney Griffin each alleged that the other started the fight. 

The women were both cited to appear in Windsor County Criminal Court on Oct. 10 to answer to  charges of Disorderly Conduct.

 

Woman charged with taking car without consent

SPRINGFIELD, Vt. — Springfield police report that on Aug. 12, Tina Guerrero was charged with taking a car without the owner’s consent. A resident called to say that in  the early morning hours he was awoken by the defendant at his residence. He told police he asked her to leave, and that she got into his truck and drove off without permission to do so. The vehicle was later located in her possession and returned to the rightful owner.

Guerrero was cited to appear in Windsor County Criminal Court on Oct. 9 to answer to the alleged charge of operating without owner’s consent.

 

Bellows Falls man arrested for trespass

BELLOWS FALLS, Vt. — Bellows Falls police report that on Aug. 18 around 4:45 p.m., Mark Bresland, 54, was charged with unlawful trespass. 

Police were responding to a complaint from 12 Church Place. The complainant told them a man was refusing to leave the premises and had urinated on the porch there. Upon arrival, Officers spoke with the victims and learned that Mark Bresland was the suspect. During the course of the investigation, it was determined that Bresland had committed the offense of Unlawful Trespass. Bresland was located a few minutes later and cited to appear in the Windham Superior Court-Criminal Division on Oct. 9 to answer to the charge.

 

Thefts from parked vehicles

WINDSOR, Vt. — Police report that on Aug. 21 and 22, the Windsor and West Windsor Communities had numerous thefts from unlocked motor vehicles, as well as a burglary from an occupied dwelling. These incidents have been occurring between the hours of 11 p.m.- 6 a.m. Residents are reminded to lock their vehicles and residences at night. Please report any suspicious person(s) or information to help solve these crimes to the Windsor Police Department 802-295-9425.

 

Horse rescued from creek

SUTTON — New London and Sutton Fire Departments report the successful rescue of a 38 year old horse, which was found stuck in a brook after being missing Wednesday night. The owner reported searching all day Thursday until they found the horse unable to get out of a brook 3 or 4 feet deep. Chip Rowe, a SFD member, responded with a mini excavator and was able to sling the horse out of the muddy brook and then stabilize the animal until he could stand on his own. The horse was then able to walk back to the barn under his own power. The horse was reported to be grazing peacefully the next day.
