Too much fun at the golf course

On Aug. 25 at 2:35 a.m., troopers responded to the Tater Hill Golf Course on Popple Dungeon Road in Windham, Vermont after a report of individuals on golf carts on the course. Upon arrival, Troopers discovered damage to several golf carts and that someone had broken into the club house building. Troopers found Caleb Green, 18, of Mt. Holly, Vermont operating a golf car on Popple Dungeon Road; he  was under the influence of alcohol and in possession of stolen golf shoes.

Three additional males, Marc Sheldon, 18, of Proctorville, Gary Clay, 18, of Windham, Vermont, and Dean Stanchfield, 20, of Ludlow, Vermont were located at a residence in Windham. It was determined that the four of them broke into the club house, stealing merchandise from the pro shop as well as dozens of bottles of liquor and wine, as well as approximately 200 beers. The individuals also caused damage to the golf course, pins, markers and greens by driving golf carts over them.

All four were arrested and processed for the the above mentioned charges. Each was issued diversion paperwork for the underage drinking. They have been charged with burglary, unlawful mischief, and possession of stolen property and will appear in Windham District Court on Sept. 11.
