Claremont man suspected of heroin possession in VT

CLAREMONT and SPRINGFIELD, Vt — A man from Claremont is facing charges in a Vermont court on suspected possession of heroin and a controlled substance.

Officers with the Springfield Police Department made contact on Aug. 15 with what they described as a “suspicious vehicle” parked in the parking lot of the Penguin Mart in Springfield, Vermont. Stephen Hill, 40, of Claremont was a passenger in the vehicle, according to police.

Police conducted a search of the occupants and the vehicle, and it was discovered that Hill had an active arrest warrant for alleged Sales of Fentanyl. Upon searching Hill, he was found to allegedly be in possession of suspected heroin and a controlled substance, all according to police.

Hill was arrested and transported to the Springfield Police Department for processing. He was issued a citation for alleged Possession of Heroin and alleged Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Hill was cited to appear in Windsor Country Criminal Court on Oct. 9 to answer to the charges. He was then lodged at Southern State Correctional Facility.
