BELLOWS FALLS, Vt. — Our Place Drop-in Center hopes to fill every seat at the Bellows Falls Opera House with a bag of groceries on Wednesday, Sept. 19 during the annual Overflow the Opera House event.

Overflow the Opera House is the tagline for the event being coordinated by Our Place and WOOL radio as a way to stock the shelves at Our Place with groceries and personal care items, hopefully filling every one of the theater’s 550 seats in the process.

Volunteers will be on site from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. so donors can drive by and hand off their donations without getting out of the car.

Anyone who can’t make it to the Opera House on Sept.19 is encouraged to bring a bag of groceries to Our Place beforehand so they can be counted towards the goal. Donations can also be dropped off at bins at Lisai’s Market.

Items especially needed are tuna, pasta, pasta sauce, peanut butter, soup, crackers, rice, canned meals, canned fruits and veggies, protein items, baby food, juice, cereal, formula and other non-perishable food, plus personal care items such as feminine hygiene supplies, diapers, shampoo, deodorant, toothpaste, and soap.

Our Place is a daytime shelter and food pantry located at 4 Island St. whose mission is to connect people to food and each other. It serves families in Rockingham and the surrounding area and in Walpole and North Walpole, N.H.

Information is available by contacting OP at (802) 463-2217, by email at [email protected], online at www.ourplacevt.org or on Facebook.
