MERIDEN — The Aidron Duckworth Art Museum will host an evening of performance with multidisciplinary artist J. Turk on Saturday, Sept. 8.
Drawing from the paintings in the current Aidron Duckworth exhibition, “Transparent Bodies,” Turk has composed a new performance specifically for the Duckworth Museum.
Turk’s work draws on a range of sources from intimate, personal experiences to current gender, feminist, and art historical theory.
Resonant and poignant, “Conversations with Aidron” engages themes in the Duckworth paintings with fresh eyes, quite likely with a view Duckworth himself only intuited. This performance does address adult subject matter and uses language that may not be suitable for children.
Turk is a queer artist from Randolph, Vermont working in a number of media including poetry, sculpture, book arts, installation, and performance, according to a press release from the museum. The piece “Conversations with Aidron” will be performed one night only, from 8 to 9 p.m. on Sept. 8. The museum will open at 7 p.m. for refreshments and to view the two exhibits currently exhibited in the galleries by Aidron Duckworth and Galen Cheney. Turk will begin performing at 8 p.m. sharp.
