RINDGE — Edith M. Jones, 81, of Rindge, New Hampshire, died at Heywood Hospital, Gardner, Massachusetts on Aug. 28, 2018 after a period of declining health; she was surrounded by her loving family.
Edith was born to Donald Morrison Briggs and Alberta Lilian Larlee on April 28, 1937 in Sisson Ridge, New Brunswick, Canada. She had two brothers, older brother Elsworth Donald Biggs, and younger brother Gerald Robert Briggs, the latter having preceded her in death. She had one younger sister Norma Lillian Davidson.
Edith and Douglas Ellery Jones were married June 20, 1959. Together they had three children, David Alan Jones, James Wade Jones and Lisa Dawn (Jones) Nelson. Her husband, Douglas and son James preceded her in death.
Mrs. Jones is survived by her remaining two children, and by her grandchildren Dylan Jones, Duncan Jones, Emily Jones, Henry Jones, Abigail Jones, and Zachary Nelson.
Edith grew up and spent her early years in western New Brunswick, Canada and northern Maine, U.S. Around 1969 she moved with her husband and three children to New Hampshire, settling in Goshen, New Hampshire, where they had many happy years together. After the death of her husband, Edith lived in Claremont, New Hampshire, Portland, Maine, and then finally Rindge.
Edith was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and friend. Her family and friends loved her very much and she with be sorely missed.
Celebrations of her life are being planned for both New Brunswick and New Hampshire, with dates to be determined.
