1994

NEWPORT—Three first half Tiger turnovers led to three Somersworth touchdowns and a 20-12 Topper victory. Garrett Janike rushed for 144 yards. Ryan Hurd had a tough day as he went 4-for-12 with three interceptions.

SUNAPEE—Andy Gray’s goal at the 26:30 mark of the second half enabled Sunapee to tie Moultonboro, 1-1. It was Gray’s first varsity score. Sunapee remained undefeated with the tie. Its record is 2-0-1.

CLAREMONT—Stevens pumped in six goals in the second half for a 6-0 victory over Goffstown. Nicole Boulanger accounted for four points with two goals and two assists. Amy Zombeck had a goal and two assists.

LANGDON—Abe Gates scored on a header early in the second half to propel Fall Mountain to a 1-0 victory over White Mountains. In a very physical game, Fall Mountain blasted six shots on goal as just one was shot at Wildcat goalie Charlie Bailey.

1989

NEWPORT—Newport managed just one shot on goal as the Tigers dropped a 1-0 game to Winnisquam. Coach Kay Yeagley wasn’t pleased with the performance of the team. This was the opening game for both teams.

SUNAPEE—The Lakers scored three second-half goals to break a 1-1 halftime tie with Thetford. Bill Austin headed in a Scott Flint corner kick for the winning goal. Chuck Ross was in net for Sunapee.

CLAREMONT—The Stevens girls soccer team got off to a great start with a 4-0 victory over ConVal, which had just one shot on goal in the game. Hillary Walsh had the winning goal. Amy Thompson added a couple of insurance goals in the second half.

LANGDON—The Wildcats stunned Stevens with a 33-32 victory in a CVL contest. Cat quarterback Gary Edwards had an outstanding day, scoring the eventual game-winning touchdown.

1974

NEWPORT—Newport crossed midfield just once during the game as Bis Bisbee’s Bellows Falls Terriers defeated the Tigers, 16-0. Jim Bates three interceptions as Bellows Falls had pressure all day in Newport’s backfield.

SUNAPEE—Coming back from two goals down, Sunapee scored twice in the second half to tie Derryfield, 2-2. Freshman Paul Duling scored his first goal and Bob Boyce scored the tying goal late in the half. Paul Appleby was in goal for Sunapee.

CLAREMONT—Curt Beebe led the Stevens football team to a 26-13 victory over Springfield. The 5-8, 158-pound halfback rushed for touchdowns of 56 and 45 yards. Beebe also set up another Stevens touchdown with a long run.

LANGDON—Fall Mountain scored a goal in the fourth quarter to stun Stevens 1-0 in a crucial early-season contest. Jim Neal had the winning goal. His rebounding put back from Gary Lawrence proved to be the winner.
