To the Editor:
One of the great things about New Hampshire is how its state representatives are close to the areas they represent.
One of the best qualifications for this local job is knowing the local community.
For almost four decades, I have been serving my neighbors – as a 38-year volunteer EMT with the rescue squad, a 25-plus year 4-H leader, a 13-year board member at the Hanover Co-op, a member and chair of town committees, and a 10-plus year president of the Meriden Bird Club.
That’s why I’m running for state representative in Sullivan County District 9. I have served in my community by caring for the sick and wounded, teaching 4-Hers how to cook, and even chairing the board of a $65 million business. I have seen the opioid epidemic up close and I have seen how over-regulation is stifling many businesses, occupations, and volunteer organizations.
I home-schooled all of my nine children. You may remember reading about our family in a profile article last November. Besides home schooling, our family has also had experience with our local community college, and private and public colleges in New Hampshire. I support offering our young people a wide range of educational options, including community colleges, tech centers, dual enrollment opportunities, and apprenticeships.
I will run my campaign in a positive way. I believe that it is only with civil discourse and respect that 400 representatives will be able to work together to solve the challenges that face our state.
If you live in Unity, Sunapee, Croydon, Newport, Springfield, Grantham, Plainfield or Cornish, I am asking for your support on Tuesday, Sept. 11.
